Developing chisel skills: This is a 3-day course where students will make an original Koitoya designed box using using a ‘twist joint’. This course suits beginner to advanced students.

Osaka-Jo Tsugi and Pencase: Japanese traditional Joinery

This 3-day class is intended to refine hand skills by studying the original joinery and then make a pencase inspired but that joinery. Suitable for intermediate and advanced students.

Arigumi (dovetail) box

Developing chisel skills: This is a 3-day course where students will make an original Koitoya- designed box using dovetail joints. This course suits beginner to advanced students.

1-day masterclass in traditional tapered sliding dovetail joinery, with modern approace using unique jig and router techniques.. Japanese traditional joinery.

Japanese plane setting and sharpening class.

Kanna - Japanese plane setting

Tutor: Clare Solomon

Learn how to set up a Japanese hand plane in this 1-day class. We offer an option for students to purchase a new hand plane through Koitoya as part of this class or bring in their own kanna.

Advanced machine workshop

Tutor: Hiroshi Yamaguchi

This 4-hour class is an extension of our workshop series. This unique class will cover the wide range of table saw operation, basics about Jointer outfeed table setting and thicknesser roller settings. All that is basic but can’t get anywhere else.

Woodworking class. Learning about router operation. This workshop focus on fundamental operation to gain the confidence about its safety.
